Welcome to my blog, where I’ll talk about video games and the adventures they take us on!

This blog is more than just reminiscing about the games we played when we were young. This is about you sharing your point of view too! I want to hear your opinions when I write reviews, talk about news, and the culture of video games.

We see our favorite games crossing platforms into movies and t.v. series. Gamers gather at convention centers to share their passion, which has evolved into virtual reality. What I love most is that video games can bring people together and tell stories we get to be a part of. It’s an adventure that can take you anywhere!

This is the first post on my new blog. Stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates!

Crossing into a Pandemic

First of all, I want to apologize for being gone so long but it’s good to be back! Things have been crazy for all of us this year. I hope you’ve been safe over these past few months.

New Horizons

Besides walking my dogs and trying to amuse myself at home, I was lucky enough to receive the Animal Crossing New Horizons game for Nintendo Switch and I’m completely obsessed! I remember playing the Gamecube version years ago but I was excited to hear a new version was out. Who doesn’t love Nintendo?!

Island Paradise

I’d like to mention how relaxing this game is, which is exactly what I need during these stressful times. You’re given the opportunity to create your own paradise as well as pick and choose your own neighbors. Although I can’t see my real-life neighbors right now, I can checkup on my animal crossing neighbors who are usually out and about on the island.

There are a variety of personalities and animals you can have on your island. For me, I have frogs, horses, sheep, lions, and tigers. I get along better with some animals more than others. For instance, the horse named Buck is a total jock. He loves to work out and always asks about my routines. Although, he is very nice – it’s not something I personally care about. I’m thinking I need to ask the jock to move out and have more fashionistas move in! I love neighbors who care about decorating and dressing up! But you should make your island based on what you care about! For me, I have a beachside, garden cafe and a pool close to home. For me, the islands are for relaxing!

Visit Friends

If you are looking for an island to visit, just reach out! I’d be happy to have visitors. 🙂

Other Recommendations

If you are someone who enjoys this kind of game, I would also like to recommend the following:

  • Stardew Valley
  • Harvest Moon
  • Terraria, which my husband has played and really enjoyed!

Lucky Find

I recently found one of my all time favorites games for Nintendo 64 called Space Station Silicon Valley!

Evo and his human partner Dan crash onto the planet better known as Space Station Silicon Valley. You play the robot Evo, who after this tragic crash is nothing more than the microchip that holds his conscience. In this weakened state, you will need to find host bodies in order to survive the treacherous environments and complete tasks.

I really loved the idea of being able to change characters and abilities. The creatures in this game appear to have evolved into bio-robots which gives the player unique capabilities within different levels.

N64 Glenn Plant gives a great overview of the game. You should check it out if you are interested in seeing the story and gameplay!

Has anyone else played or heard of this game before? I only have a few friends who are familiar with it. Let me know in the comments below!

Yakuza 0

A Must Play

If you are looking for a new game to play consider Yakuza 0! You play the silent, brooding Kazuma Kiryu but don’t let his appearance fool you; he’s a karaoke singing, disco dancing man who also teaches a dominatrix how to properly punish her customers/gain confidence in herself.

Framed from the Beginning

More seriously, your main story line involves a mysterious foreigner teaching you different fighting styles which comes in handy considering you’ve been framed for a murder. This recent crime brings to light issues within the Yakuza group. Members questioning loyalty/ranking and their opportunity to expand into the city comes to a halt.

Let Me Know Your Thoughts

I hope this short review has sparked some interest in you! Let me know if you loved or hated the game and why.

Summer Vacation is Over

Ah, Nostalgia!

I remember watching my brother play the first Kingdom Hearts at a young age. My sister and I were enchanted by the graphics and the story that mixed in angst-filled teenagers and Disney characters. It starts with a trio of friends spending the last of their summer days together which brought nostalgia and romance to a video game like I’d never seen before.

Now, maybe I’ve become more cynical in my old age but I have lost that feeling. Don’t get me wrong, I still hold a special place in my heart (pun intended) for this game but it has so many illogical narratives.

Questionable Storytelling

This game is absolutely beautiful to look at but ambiguous from the start. Our characters talk about simple subjects like light/dark and heart/heartless but as time moves forward we meet more characters within the Disney Worlds, Organization XIII and members from the Keyblade Wars that seem to fade in and out of our journey. I’m still trying to process all of these plot lines and their components!

This game is about Sora who is on an adventure with Donald and Goofy to defeat darkness and bring light to the worlds. The Disney Worlds are invaded with heartless which allows Sora to fight with his keyblade and tease Donald along the way. Thankfully Goofy is following along with this story because he’s able to explain plot points to Sora and the audience! “BOIL!” – Goofy

Inverse to the Rescue

These games are too beautiful and nostalgic for me to give up but I’m gritting my teeth as I play. If a game cannot make sense of its story it might want to reconsider its voice.

I found a video from Paul Ramsdale at Inverse who explores the ‘Kingdom Hearts 3′ Plot Explained: Here’s How the Story Got So Confusing’. I appreciate his honesty and explanation for the game! It helped me better understand the people who created it and their methods.

The truth is we’re all so quick to judge someone for their work but I’d like to applaud them for their efforts and originality as well.
