Must Watch Netflix Series
Netflix has brought the Witcher series to a new platform which has people excited and anxious because in the past it has been difficult for the film world to properly depict a video game’s story.
Henry Cavill portrays the White Wolf, Geralt of Rivia, one of the last mutated monster hunters who works for coin roaming the Continent. Neither humans or monsters care for his kind so he is forced to wander the world alone.
Moral Compass
What we come to find out is that Geralt has a respectable moral compass. In the video game this is left for the player to decide. One can choose how Geralt will respond to people and events but in this series he is known for saying: “Lesser, greater, middling, it’s all the same… but if I’m to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all.”
Geralt’s quote means:
- He doesn’t want to create more evil in the world
- Virtue is rare and only when he sees it will he take a side
- No degree of evil is worth justifying
The greatness that comes from this video game and show manifests from its characters. Most of us are now coming into an age where we can better understand the inner struggles of our protagonist. We relate more to the narrative when we see ourselves in these characters. Connections like this bring intimacy and vulnerability to a show that markets itself as a powerhouse of strength.
